Getting Involved in Learning:

Lent & Autumn Courses

St. George’s Church has a sound history of involvement in Lent Courses, which are held in people’s homes and led by both Clergy and members of the congregation.

York study courses have proved popular, as have issues of global injustices, through which we have looked at the progress of the Christian Aid Millenium Goals.

Some of the books we have studied have included Living Jesus by John Pritchard and The Stature of Waiting by W. H. Vanstone and from these we have created our own very successful Lent course.

Over the past few years, Autumn studies have begun with Church House Pilgrim Courses and have used The Beatitudes and The Lordʼs Prayer.

Opportunities for Bible Study are on offer throughout the year.

As a church we are committed to the vision,  ‘Working towards a Dementia Friendly Jesmond.’   As such we are involved in offering Dementia Awareness Sessions to targeted members of our congregations with the aim of ultimately having as many of our members as possible ‘Dementia Aware.’  Our concern for Dementia related issues is a very important part of who we are as St.George’s Church in Jesmond.  We welcome all those involved in any way with a dementia to our Friday Cafe each Friday 10am-12noon.  You will be among friends.
