Friends of St George’s
The Friends of St George’s was established in 2008 to maintain and renovate the fabric of the Church and to expand and strengthen its role in the community.
Projects So Far Undertaken
Since its establishment in 2008 the Friends has raised money towards two major projects
- Restoration of St. George’s West Window: The Friends contributed over £10,000 towards the total cost of £57,000.
- Installation of new lighting in St George’s and cleaning of the interior: The Friends contributed £27,000 of the £177,000 needed to complete the work.

The much anticipated Sophie/Simon Quiz night – Saturday 28th September at 7.00pm in St George’s church hall. Tickets available from the office for £10 (£8 for Friends) which includes a light supper. Bring your own drink. Profits shared between the Friends and the East End Food Bank.
An American Evening – by the Barons – fun, food, music. Saturday 16th November at 7pm in the church hall.
The Committee is drawn from a mix of members of the congregation of St.George’s and from the surrounding community and meets 6 times a year to plan & organise the programme and to discuss projects. Our current Patron is the Rt Revd Nicholas Chamberlain, Bishop of Grantham.

How to Join
Membership is open to anyone on payment of an annual subscription of £10 pp pa and membership forms can be downloaded here or can be obtained from the Parish Office or from the table at the back of church.
Benefits include invitations to all Friends events,free/reduced price admission to events.
Membership offers the chance to be actively involved in plans for the future of St.George’s Church, its
buildings and its role in the community.
