The Peacock Choral Scholarships
Each year, there are vacancies for four choral scholars (soprano, alto, tenor and bass) to sing as section leaders within the Parish Choir. Scholars are expected to attend all services and rehearsals (within the university term, if students). These include the regular Thursday and Sunday commitments, as well as occasional extra services, such as Ash Wednesday or the Advent Carol Service. As this is a leadership role within the choir, regular attendance, punctuality, and a level of preparation are key. We, in return, offer all the support a singer needs and lots of musical opportunities. The honorarium is £100 per month, paid in arrears.
We are grateful to The Ouseley Trust for their support of this initiative
The scholarships are named in honour of Frederick Peacock, Organist Emeritus

Organ Scholarship
The St George’s organ scholarship offers free organ tuition for a year, worth £600, and the scholar has access to the church’s four-manual Lewis/Binns organ for practice. The successful candidate will be encouraged (when ready) to contribute to the weekly choral liturgies, accompanying or conducting the choir and providing voluntaries. We are looking for a player of approximately ABRSM grade 5 standard on the piano, who is interested in getting involved in all aspects of the musical life of the parish.
